Funding sought for new vegan eatery Former Red Avocado co-owner hopes to Trumpet Blossom Café
Katy Meyer, one of three former owners of the Red Avocado, wants to open the Trumpet Blossom Café, which would feature a vegan menu similar to its predecessor, but also would do catering. The restaurant would open at 310 E. Prentiss St., the building behind the Vine Tavern that currently houses the Hideaway Tavern & Grill, which will close at midnight Wednesday.
“It wasn’t something that I was just going to say ‘Oh, OK, I’ll go try something else,’” Meyer said of being forced out of the Washington Street building that was demolished to make way for a residential/commercial development. “It’s like, ‘No, this is what I want to do. I enjoy doing it. I’ll make it work, just in a slightly different incarnation.’”
