Jordan Sand:
Weaving vocals into the organ-like resonances of the bowed double bass, Jordan Sand's work as a soloist and for theater has been called "impressive" (New York Times) and described as "ninja bass-playing" (Obsolete Media Objects). Ranging from “dynamic pop-inflected solo pieces” (The Strad) to long meditations on ringing dissonance, her music deals with sex, innocence, anxiety, ancient and anthropocene myth, the decay of monotheism, and the brainstem hymn. Based in New York, Jordan’s eclectic record as a collaborator, improviser and bassist includes projects with the International Contemporary Ensemble and Peter Evans, frequent engagements within the klezmer and folk music world, and appearances on SNL, Carnegie Hall, and the NPR Tiny Desk Concert series.
Chris Wiersema:
One half of long-shelved Iowa City drugged-ambient, drunk-wave improv duo Lwa, Wiersema uses no-input mixers, prepared guitar, field recordings, and broken medical equipment to coax melody from the ether. Wiersema is founder of Feed Me Weird Things and programer for the Mission Creek and Witching Hour festivals. This will be Wiersema's first public performance in several years and will likely not perform again for several more.
